Since 1914...
John B. Denson learned the trade of glass cutting, repairing and engraving at J. Hoare and Company at the
age of fourteen. He also worked for Hunt Glass and O.F. Egginton
Company. From 1922 - 1935 he worked for Steuben Glass in Corning,
NY. At that same time he opened his own cutting shop in his home
until he died in 1957. |
Roy W. Denson Sr. remembered watching
his father John working on glass in their home. He began work at Corning
Glass Works in 1936. He soon became a worker in the Steuben division of
the company. He started as a "take in boy" and worked up to
being a master glass blower. After his father died he continued the glass
repair business in his cellar. He then started making jewelry from old
Carder glass. Roy continued his business until diabetes forced him to
retire in1988. He died ten years later.
| Paul R. Denson can
remember watching both his grandfather and father working on glass
as he was growing up. Beginning in 1974, his father began training
Paul and his brother-in-law Harold J. Rose in the
skills needed to run a successful business. R
& B Denson & Associates was
established in 1982 and does repair
for companies worldwide. |
